I’ve always noticed customer service issues, but now that I run my own businesses I’m hyper-aware of what companies do and don’t do for their customers.
Just yesterday I was getting a package ready to ship. It was an item that my husband had ordered and had decided to return. This company had taken his order and then not sent him the item for about two months, without any communication as to what the delay was. (He called and found out they were out of stock, but nobody had taken the time or initiative to let him know that.) Then, when I was making a copy of the receipt for our records (before including a copy in the box that was being returned) I noticed that he had been charged $19.95 for shipping. And HOW was this money used? Apparently to line the pockets of the company that he ordered from. Because the box weighed one pound, and was sent by parcel post. This is the cheapest and slowest shipping option available for this type of package, and would have cost less than $3.
They could have sent it by priority mail for less than $5. And they probably could have even sent it *overnight* for the $19.95 shipping price.
And did I mention that the item he had purchased was a $200 item? Seems like they should have cared about his business a little bit more, eh?
This sort of thing is just so disappointing to me as a customer, but it also reminds me of one more way that Supermom’s Health and Wellness is different from others.
We charge a flat rate of $6.95 per order, no matter how much you buy. Here’s how that translates:
Even if I find that I *could* ship your order slower and super cheap, I ALWAYS send it to you via Priority Mail so that you get it in 2-3 days.
Even if I *could* stick your products into a flat rate envelope and only pay $4.60 to ship it, if the items that are being shipped would be safer in a box, I’m going to ship it to you in a box, even if that means that it costs $2 more. You paid for good shipping and you’re going to get it.
IF your order is heavy or has to go all the way to California, Alaska, or Hawaii, it is probably going to cost me more than $6.95 to ship. But I will pay whatever the extra cost is to get your package to you.
If you live in Canada or anywhere else outside of the USA, you’re going to have to pay for the international shipping. But I will do my best to find a good shipping rate for your products, and whatever that price is will have the $6.95 that you already paid deducted from it.
PLUS, I almost always get orders out on the same day, and with very few exceptions get them out by the very next business day. I like to get my purchases fast, and I know you do too. As this business grows, one of my goals will be to continue to get orders out Super Fast! I appreciate your order and want to get it to you as soon as I can.
If for some unusual reason I am unable to ship your products Super Fast (like happened in January when I introduced Bee Strong, Berry Well, and Bone Ami and kept selling out of it faster than it was coming in) I will let you know and communicate with you regularly to let you know the status of your order. I’m kind of a fanatic about wanting to get your orders on their way to you as soon as possible!Â
I know that there are a zillion businesses out there that don’t seem like they care whether you come around buying things or not. I just wanted to let you know that I see the good, bad, and the ugly, and I try to set this business apart as one that shows customers that we care about them as friends.
Have a great day,
Supermom
